Just got off of the phone with Richard (thick Indian accent) who called, on behalf of the Federal Government, to tell me that I had been chosen to receive a $8000 Government grant. He told me that there was a democratic survey in my area a few months ago and they chose1700 people and I was one of them. I had to ask him to repeat himself many times. The conversation was going OK until he asked how I wanted to receive my money. I asked for options. He said directly into your bank account or onto your credit card. I said so I have to give you sensitive information. He danced around but finally said yes. I asked for proof of who his organization was and he said to check out www.grants.gov. I did and it is a legitimate site. He even gave me the address for Health and Human Services; said they were on the 2nd floor of the same building. Then I googled the phone number and found all of you folks who have who have had interactions with these people too. Thank you for your posts. Ask questions people; make them answer you. And don't believe half of the stuff they tell you. Press them.
They called me too! I gave a bogus card number and was told to call a Ashley Steven. So she answered asked for my Grant# and said I'll call you back in an hour! Yeah right.
I just got off the phone with the rudest people from this number. I asked him to remove my name from the calling list and he said "if you didnt want us to call then you're wasting my time" so I asked him for a manager because that was completely uncalled for. He told me they were in DC after I asked for a supervisor. I said to him 8 more times to get me a manager and he finally changed his voice...like I couldnt tell. He then said he was the manager so I said I knew he wasnt and couldnt believe that he is trying to conduct business like that and then he told me to go F--k myself. I told him the same thing in return and that he was a punk because he couldnt get a real job and had to come up with some scam to try and swindle people out of money. I told him that his name wasnt Peter and he said I was right...really!?!?!? I told him that I was going to contact the local police department in his area to report him and also contact the BBB and the FCC in regards to professional business conduct and he then said that there are a lot of vacancies for F**king at his location...pathetic!
this number called me several times today and said nothing after i picked up. they just called again and i picked up the phone and didn't say anything. this man starts singing to me in another language asian/indian-ish? then he said something at the end, that was probably offensive, i couldn't understand, but it was very rude. In the background it sounded like an office with the news on (british accented)
