the funnest thing is I just buy my prepaid cell phone, even me myself can't remember my phone#, no one know my new phone #, but on my way home, I get called by this #, and it call me several times a day, I never answer it.
Ummm...you're wrong. It will change your credit rating when it reflects as a paid charge off instead of an unpaid charge off. Once it is paid, then it starts clocking time to fall off your bureau completely.
You are so wrong. Paying off a charged off debt will not improve your FICO score, it will lower it. In addition, once you make a payment and something happens that you cannot pay it in full, the clock starts at the time of the last activity until 7 or 10 yrs before it is legally removed from your credit file. So, if you are in default on an account and cannot commit to paying the account in full or to a payment plan, do not be intimidated into making a payment because it will then take another 7 -10 yrs from that payment date before it is removed from your credit file.
You are correct Credit Savy... and in the state of texas if they do not sue you with in 4 years of the original debt then they can not nor can any company that takes the debt over. And you will have a fair credit rating with in 7 years and probably be able to obtain credit cards within 4-5.. but do not accept the ones that have fees. They will advertize with in 2-3 years to you. Wait till you start getting the ones that DO NOT have fees...
If you owe a debt and can not or do not intend to pay it off... do not contact them, converse with them or set up any type of payment plan. Just write it off.
You are wrong Credit Savy. You need to stop giving advice. You can be sued while that 7 to 10 years is rolling. Paying a charged off debt will improve your score. It takes 90 to 120 days for that to show on your credit and it WILL increase your score. You need to be educated before you speak.
I received the same call. Yes, they are a collection agency. Some represent themselves as attorneys. However, they are not. I recorded them and was ready for court. I sent them the request for productions and never heard from them again.
