I received a call from this number but when i say hello it disconnects? Whi is calling me and whats the purpose of the call?

Had a miss call from this number   no voice mail and I'm not calling it back

This number calls me all the time on my cell phone. I never answer because it has not ID attached. The weird thing is, I called the number back and it says it's been disconnected! HOW DOES THAT WORK?
