Call to my office, claimed to be collecting donations for the Special Olympics. I told him truthfully that money was too tight these days to make charitable donations.
Legitimate or not, it just doesn't strike me as a good idea to even promise to give someone money over the phone on just their say-so.

Get calls from them ever now and then and I tell them I'm not here! They do ask by name so it could be a charitable collection organization but I feel the same as CJ, not enough money to go around right now for anyone so don't bother calling me anymore. I feel for the non-profit orgs. today with the economy the way it is but that's life at the moment. Besides, I stopped donating money over the phone years ago!
