this number showed up on my caller id as an unknown number today 6/8/11 it was a woman with a very thick accent and said her name was dani something she left a message for my dad stating he was going to be blacklisted from his employer and he would be arrested and the government was going to seize his benefits and he owed them 20,000.00 this would be fine and good except for the fact my father passed away on 9/28/10 from cancer. I called and reported it to my local police department told them it shows up as unknown caller on the caller id, and told them they left a message with a phone number - i told them i called it back and it rang 6 or 7 times and then gave me a busy signal. gave the number to the cops, but they told me unfortunately there isnt too much they can do, and about the only thing i can do is change my phone number. these people need to be stopped and punished to every extent of each law they are breaking harrassing people they dont even know are dead. i knew it was a scam due to the fact that they didnt have any idea my father was deceased
May 27, 2011 someone with a heavy indian accent called me and claimed that I was going to be arrested for an unpaid cash advance I never took out. They wouldn't (couldn't) verify any of my information. I asked him to verify the last four digits of my social and address and he refused. He wanted me to give him that information first. Don't give out any information over the phone, they should already have it. He even asked for my date of birth. I told him he should already have that. I asked for the lawfirms address and he hung up on me.
I have received numerous voicemails at work from a company that state their company name is Baker & McKenzie. The voicemail (Rep with a very strong Indian type accent and sounds like he's reading a script) states I am a criminal in 3 states and that I will be penalized and fined in court for $5,000.00. The rep also states that they will send someone to arrest me at my place of employment and my home address if I do not call back.
I believe this company to be a fraud. The rep stated the last 4 digits of a social security #'s that wasn't even mine but they have my first and last name. I have sent a complaint the last time they called to the FTC. Not sure how they recv'd my information but I'm sick of them calling and harassing me and I'm getting worried exactly what information they have about me or how they got it to begin with.
THIS IS AN EXTORTION SCAM. Scammers use bought/hacked loan application data to extort payments for fictitious debts from victims and victims' families and friends.

I just got a phone call from this person claiming to be from "LAW OFFICE" by the name of Kevin Foster. Heavy Indian Accent. I am so tired of these call. I have never taken a payday loan or any other loan via the web. I just wish it would stop. These people are relentless and rude. It is infact a scam this I am sure its just down right harrassment. They call my work, my cell, thank god they dont have my home number. Everything you said in your post is exactly what is happening to me...I have reported this activity to the local authories. I have changed all phone numbers. The only number I can't change is my work.
