Automated Calls to my home phone - 5 times inside of one minute. Each one lets ring 4-5 times then it hangs ups and rings again. I called back and someone actually answered. Said is ws W2W Foundation. This happened about 2 weeks ago. I called them back then and complained and insisted my number be taken out of their database. What recourse do we have? I want them shut down.
I am not sure if this Foundation is on the up and up - The lady said the name of the foundation is Women to Women, I asked her where they were located and she said Indiana - the phone number is area code 205 which is Aabama... I asked her if they were in Indiana then why do they have an Alabama phone number and she said I don't know. I told her I would not be able to help her.
I recieved a call from this number and the caller asked for donation to Woman to Woman Breast Cancer Foundation. I asked if they were non-profit and how much/what percentage of my contrubution would go directly to the cause. He said he did not know and quickly hung up. I filed a complaint with the FTC, National Do Not Call Registry.
Charities, even fake ones that spend most of your donation trying to get more donations, are exempt from the Do Not Call list laws. All you can do is hang up on them. Block their number or assign it a "no ring" ring tone.
just got a call: W2W 205-561-2779. I did not answer. When answering machine took the call, they hung up. If I don"t recognize a number, I do not answer. They always hang up without leaving a message.
205 area code is from Alabama.
