You should have heard my conversation with them when my wife came crying. The same guy answered the phone, but little does he know I work in cyber security for a $3 billion/year company. I was more furious because I forgot to delete the message, but had to explain to my wife how they knew it was her. Information about you is EVERYWHERE especially land records. Not hard to find. After the same guy answered 3 times, I asked how understaffed the IRS was due to him answering every time. Then a woman answered my 4th call back, to which I said to go to hell. My wife was in awe that I was talking to them like that on the off chance I was wrong......but I wasn't and I knew they were bouncing VoIP calls using Magic Jack. Typical and also a 3rd gentleman yanked the phone away from the woman so I put the phone on speaker and he didn't like how I was talking to this lady. I won't post it here because it is full of expletives. The guy told me my wife could hold his appendage and when I started saying "Thank you....you proved my point scumbag" he kept saying "la la la la la" like a little kid closing his ears to drown me out. I will find their location and will be doing extra work so that people with less knowledge have people fighting the good fight. Many of my co-workers will do the same. We bait these people and actually reverse the trend. Knowledge is power and they are dumber than a box or rocks, but to the layperson they seem legitimate. Great job with all reporting this. Same number by the way. Bainbridge Island, WA.
Filled out a complaint even though they didn't get anything out of me. Thank you for the link. I think these scumbags should be put away and I don't care where. If this was a call to my grandparents on fixed incomes, I would have been even more livid. Welcome to the digital age where spoofing numbers, Skype, and Magic Jack VoIP numbers make things a whole lot easier.
Received the same call from 206-201-2362 in which a woman said she was from the IRS and that they were filing a law suit against me. Since I don't live in the state of Washington, why would that state's IRS give me a call. Also, the real IRS would send you an official letter.
I got several calls from Florida and now the area code has changed. I have already reported the other number to the IRS a few months ago- I did a little reverse catfishing the last time they called to mess with them. Great fun, you should try it!!
