I just wanted you to know that I just got a phone call from the "Grant Department" and the United States Government" has randomly selected me to receive $7849.00. See last month there was a "Demographic survey" done in my area, and based off the information received, along with that I file my taxes on time and do not have any bankruptcies I have been randomly selected to receive this grant. I do not have to pay it back and there are no taxes." I was told that I could not use the money for things like gambling drinking or illegal activities. That it had to be put to good use like bills, home improvements and the like. When he wanted to confirm my information I just let him talk. He had my name correct. He the house number and street name correct, even the City was correct. All I said was "okay". When he said that my State was Nevada I said "No that was not correct." He mentioned it again and I again said no. He said what state are you in then? I responded that it was not in Nevada. (LOL) I did not tell them what state I was in. I figured that if it was the United States Government they should know it. I asked him for his name (sounded like he was from India) He said his name was Keith Johnson. I asked him what the phone number was he was calling from he gave me (206) 201-2373 and said that I should call it right away and that I needed a Grant reference number he gave me "RK158" and that I would be talking to a Brian McNiel, in the Government Grants Department Accounting Department. I then asked him where he was calling from... he replied United States Government Grant Department. I said no what state.... he said Washington. I said "the State of Washington?" He replied Yes the state of Washington. and Again told me to call right away so that I could get my money today. That it could be mailed or put into my account. Our call ended and I did call the phone number given to me. A Brian McNiel did answer, apparently from the Grant Accounting Department. He (sounded to much the same as the last guy... humm) I gave him the reference number I was given, he asked for my name.... I did give him my name, he asked me to spell it I spelled out my first name only. He said that he needed to pull up my file. I was put on hold. After about 1 min of silence I hung up.
I KNOW THIS IS A SCAM!!! I did not give out any information.... The information they had they can get from any where. Its public knowledge.
THE same thing just happened to me your story mirrors mine all the way down to the grant approval # of RK 158......told me I could call is Supervisor again Brain McNeil and that my money could only be put in a bank account told him I did not have one so he asked me to use that of a friend or Relative and he will call me back tomorrow. He did ask for DOB and I said if your the government you would know it already my birth date said it was to verify I was who i said i was.......We spent the last 30mins arguing why he needed my socail if the money was TAX free.......Finally I hung up on him !!
