I also recieved a text message today at 3:37pm. I also tried calling the number but it was an answering machine. After reading your post i'm now sure its a scam, as the text message never indicated what bank which made me suspicious as I have several debit cards. I wasn't a target shopper or didn't have a card for them, so beware everyone.
I received a text message this morning, claiming to be from my bank's security, saying that my card had been locked out and that I needed to call the above number...I called the number they gave me for kicks and giggles and got an automated message asking me for my personal card information. My husband and I were two of the many who shopped at Target during the time frame in which the debit/credit card attack occurred so I half expected something like this to happen...
Be cautious and never answer these messages unless you've called your bank and spoken to an actual person there regarding your account. My bank isn't even open today so there's no way they were doing maintenance of any kind on my account to merit this message.
