Same call received at 7:28am. The Government does not call YOU. If it is legitimate, they send through the mail and then it is up to you to call to resolve any issue you might have.
Anyone hit by these IRS scams should consider blocking the following area codes:
206 253 360 425 509 564 also area code 202.
The stupid scammers don't understand the difference between Washington State and Washington DC. They think that the people they call will think that the Washington State area code calls come from Washington DC.
Ridiculous attempt at scamming information by pretending to be from the Internal Revenue Service. Obvious scam. No need to call back. Or better yet, call them back and really "mess with them." That can be much more fun!
Called and left a message using a computer generated voice. Same message as other posters have written, implying legal action unless you call 206-209-1628. Called 2/2/2017 at 3:40 CST Don't fall for these fake threats. As other posters have said, the IRS does not call and leave threatening messages, without using your name, with no details, in a robotic computer generated voice. These scammers are trolling for elderly people and naive people who will be scared enough to call and "pay the fine" over the phone. I hope these people rot in hell.
At 4:04 pm on 2-2-17 a computerized voice left a recording on my home line, (Garbled at the beginning and then) "US Treasury intending your serious attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before magistrate, judge or grand jury for a federal criminal offense. This is the final attempt to reach you. To resolve this issue immediately and to speak to a federal agent the department's call back number is 206-209-1628. I repeat it's 206-209-1628. Thank you." Obvious SCAM!
