I received 2 voice messages on my cell just today, August 19 telling me that I have filed incorrect taxes from 2009 to 2015 and that the IRS had placed a warrant for my arrest. I suspected that it was fraud, but I called anyway and was asked if I would be willing to pay what was do so that I would not be arrested. I informed the caller to send me an official certified letter from the IRS and then I would respond.
Left a message about some tax filing and "four allegations" pending against me and that if the matter wasn't resolved "local cops" would come to arrest me. First, I know I did my taxes correctly and with a pro. Second, "local cops" that was a red flag. Third, I don't check my voicemail often and it's been more than the 24 hours the message said I would be given to resolve this. Called back but no one answered. Checked the number online and found this site along with others saying the same thing: it's a scam. Don't freak out, check sources.
