That was the same message I got. I asked my boss who is an attorney and he said it is a scam. IRS notices come via certified mail. How else can we report this stuff?
I have been contacted several times. Each time the caller stated he worked in the cid for the irs, and that they where lobbing a case against me. I hung up.
Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
This number has called me several times. I called back from my office and when the man answered he said he was with the irs... I cut him off and asked him " if this was the irs when i google this # why is it saying its a scam?" he said " who told you that?" i said "the internet. Well what is your address so i can verify that im speaking with the irs?" he was like " well who are you and why are you calling?" me "it doesnt matter who i am you guys called me and im trying to figure out who you are and if you really are who you say you are." then he tells me " i dont want to speak with you anymore" and hangs up.
All in all scam scam scam..
Plus i could here other ppl in the background with the same accent saying they were the irs. Highly doubtful.
