Rec'd call from this number on 12/3/09 at 6:54 PM CST. Did not leave message.
Called number today, 12/4/09 approximately 4:50 PM CST. Voice mail upon answering my call: "Press 1 if you prefer not to be listed on our "Preferred Marketing List."
Have no idea who these people are. No name listed on caller ID.
Caller hung up when my anwering machine kicked in. This is from another site about this number:
"Save your trouble in filing a complaint. The calls are made over a VOIP (internet) based grouop of numbers from a location in Canada. There is a large telemarketing call center in British Columbia that calls for a bunch of "clients" (crooks !!)."
Since they're outside the U.S., they don't have to follow U.S. laws or respond to U.S. subpoenas. As long as Canada permits these cross border calls, there's not a lot that the FTC can do about it."
"I've checked with the Attorney General of my state who informs me that Canada will not cooperate in efforts to shut these folks down. The person advised me to blow a thunderer whistle in their ear. That would be illegal in the States but since the call is from Canada and they won't cooperate with us, well....
If you ask who they are you are told "Visa and Mastercard Services" or they simply hang up. If you ask where they are located, they hang up. If you tell them you don't know what your credit card rate is, they hang up.
They are fishing for folks who will give them personal and credit card info. In other words, they are a phishing site.
Stay safe and get a whistle."
