I too, received a call from that same 206-408-1927 number and i almost gave het $ 500.I do have business wirh the irs but she was to pushy and wanted me to stay on the phone while I make payment. Her name sarah jones. I just hung up .she kept calling back. The IRS doesnt operate like that
Among SEVERAL numbers from the 206 area code that have called and left very blunt messages such as "This is the Internal Revenue Service. Do not disregard this message and do return the call before we take any action against you." or "This call is regarding a criminal investigation from the Internal Revenue Service. The is a warrant of for your arrest and we need information for you criminal attorney." Out of curiosity (and devilment) I returned the call(s) Always someone with an Indian (?) accent with a call center in the background verifying my identity. When I ask for information to verify the legitimacy of the call (which of course the IRS would do) I was told "We are doing this as a service to you. We make over 2000 calls a day and we do not have time to verify to each person where the call is coming from." Then click. Keep a record of these numbers, make sure you are on the do not call list. DO NOT GIVE ANYONE PERSONAL INFORMATION. CONTACT IRS IF YOU HAVE CAUSE FOR CONCERN.
Got a call from this number approx. 1 hour ago. Supposedly from a Restitution officer from the I.R.S. Initial call went to my voicemail because not being familiar with the number I did not pick up. So, later I called back, because I do have business with the I.R.S.. the woman had an Indian accent, with the name Sarah Jones.
The narrative was to keep criminal charges from being filed against me in court, I had to use a prepaid card such as iTunes ( a tax payment voucher??????) to forward to them the tax delinquent amount. Which brings up another question....how would they know the amount I owe to the I.R.S?? After several minutes of unproductive interplay between us, I asked to speak to her superior supervisor, at which time, the phone went to a busy signal. Be very careful, these people are scamming seniors, and trying to get you to hand over your money.
I, too, just got a call from this number saying they were IRS and I was in trouble, etc. I had the same call a few days ago on my land line. I do have business going on with IRS....so somehow, some scammers know that and are trying to get people to pay them....I sure hope no one thinks they are for real and pay them. I hate people who are trying to steal from others. Especially when they are already down.
