They called to say I was qualified for a $1,000 grant because I had no criminal record, pay my taxes on time, and haven't filed for bankruptcy in the last 6 months. The woman who spoke with me first, who barely spoke English, told me her name was "Michelle Smith" and her Senior Accountant who began to talk about the transaction with a Green Dot Money Pak, agent number "007" (which I had to laugh at), began to explain the process of the transaction. I had enough time to look online to see it was a scam, and just told them I wasn't interested.
I got a message from this phone number from someone with an Indian accent (he spoke clearly and understandably) saying that he was calling from Microsoft regarding a serious infection on my computer. I asked him what my COMPUTER NAME is and he was not able to give me this information. This is the 3rd call of this type, the previous calls had unusual numbers.
Do not let anyone install anything on your computer without verifying them, this would be a phishing expedition to give out your information to someone who is not going to actually help you and will probably steal information from you.
