Left a message claiming to be an IRS agent and stating he was going to have me arrested for an outstanding tax issue. Blocked my number to call him back and mess with him, but it goes to voice mail right away. Darn.
BTW, the IRS would mail a letter to your home if there was a problem. These guys doing these scams are horrible people. Ohhhh, and heavy indian accent.
There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
