I received a text from this number that said "Hey Amy, not sure if you air anyone you know still smokes, But www.smoke444.com is giving away free e-cig trials.- John." My initial reaction was to reply something snarky or threatening, but then did a bit of research online. The first bit of advice, don't answer the text. That just lets the spammer know they reached a valid phone. I found several articles that suggest you forward the message to 7726 (SPAM on a keypad), which many carriers (including ATT) utilize for spam reporting. I received an immediate response from ATT, thanking me and asking me to send the phone number that sent the message. Here are a couple of sites that give some good advice:
