I just rec'd the same type of phone call. I tried looking up on the FTC website to see if it was a reported scam. Unfortunately, the website was not available because of the government shutdown.
This company has been autocalling me for weeks, which I understand is against the law. They offer a free security system home installation, which makes perfect sense. Why wouldn't they give these away?
When I called the number back, I was passed to a sales person, who said their company was Security Solutions. He promised to take my number off their list, and when I started ranting at him, he hung up on me.

I just received a pre-recorded phone call that started with "Do not hang up! Your home has been selected for a free security system. You will receive free installation and equipment. The truth of the matter is, the FBI reports... " I hung up. This is not the first time this someone had called me about a "free" home security system. One time I stayed on the line and got an operator (with a very heavy foreign accent) who finally told me that there is a monthly monitoring fee. I can't remember how much it was. I wish there was a way to block these calls without paying extra for the blocking service at my provider.
