I was called today about free grant money from federal treasury dept. I knew what the scam was because I searched the number so when Steven Wills called to verify promo code I let him give his speech about the $1400 & going to western union & by law he has to stay on phone with me till transaction is complete & then asked for $180 for transaction fee. I also told him that I spoke to the treasury dept & was told to record him asking me for money & that at this moment I had recorded our conversation & he hung up on me. Surprise surprise & when I tried to call back they were not accepting calls at that time.
I just got the same call with the same amount of money and the same return number......Of course I wasn't stupid enough to fall for it but played along until he said give me your account number and we can direct deposit the money. When I said no way I am not giving out my credit card information or bank account info he then stated that he would send the money VIA western union and that I needed to call back the number to claim my grant money. BEWARE OF SCAMMERS!! I even told him I thought this was a scam and he assured me it was not. They are so convincing and I can see why people fall for it.
How could you POSSIBLY wonder if this is a scam? Who in this world is honestly going to call you and give you "free money"? There is no such thing as free money. Only money you work your butt off for.
I gave them a fake credit card number and got a confirmation code from the guy, then called back the Seattle number and talked to Steven Wills. He assured me he was calling from the US Government, even though I could barely understand him. Then he told me he was ready to transfer the money just as soon as I sent him the processing fee. Said I had to go to 7-11 and get a pre-paid credit card and to call him back because he was very busy. It was then that I told him I was recording the call and typing a report to the FTC. It's dumb and obvious, but they must be tricking people or these guys wouldn't bother doing it.

Called several times offering me a federal loan if I send over $180. I've said no many times but have still been receiving multiple calls per day. This person has also started blocking his number in an attempt to reach me. I went to my local police department and they are going to investigate.
