Scam telemarketer trying to get a card number. No way. Next I'm reporting this to the national do not call ctr

As with everyone else, same recorded message, different phone number & name ID.  This time caller ID says "pacifictel".  Last month it said "pactel".  Before that the name ID was the name of a state such as "Florida", "Kansas", etc., and before that it was "toll free call", "wireless caller", and others.  Several different phone numbers often showed up under those different names.  They are very proficient at Caller ID spoofing.

These scumbags goal is to get you to reveal your credit card information and your personal information.  What they do with it after that is very likely to cause you enormous grief.

Don't bother attempting to be removed from their calling list.  Pressing any key on your phone merely confirms that your phone number is valid.  I use a device called 'Intelliscreener' to block them - either by number, or name.  It responds with SIT tones to tell the robo-dialer that this is a non-working number.  Unfortunately, this wonderful device is no longer being made.  If you can find a used one grab it!

PS  I really have to laugh at all the people who invoke the DNC list.  Since when do criminals comply with laws??  The DNC list is honored only by LEGITIMATE companies doing LEGITIMATE business!

2nd call in a week from 2 different numbers. 1st one said that i needed to reactivate my debit card and wanted the number, 2nd one wanted to reduce my interest rates. what a scam. hope the seniors can see through these calls. these people should be prosecuted!

Yes I got the same call about lowing my interest rate on my credit card,but the name they call me from was 360-529-6186.I thought it was on the up and up. Now I read this and they have all my information about my credit cards what can I do now can anybody help me. I got the call today about 4:30 Oct 5 2011. I hope by now you have contacted your Bank or Credit Union?  Please NEVER give out personal ("...since my husband passed away...") or financial information TO ANYONE, especially over the phone, unless you initiated the inquiry.  Best to call your bank right away and see if anything untoward has taken place, and ask them to flag your account(s) due to suspicious inquiry.  Also check your accounts online at least weekly --basically forever-- because those scammer jerks sometimes wait for months and years before they steal your identity or just your money.  Sadly we can't even trust the caller ID these days, they can now make it appear as Santa Claus calling if they want.  This is what's known as "Spoofing" and it's everywhere.  I wont say you can't trust anyone, but we must keep our guard up at all times, and cover our you-know-what.  Good luck to you.
