A man from this number, identifying himself only as an officer with a collections department, began calling my work number - repeatedly- even after my boss took over the call and told him not to call. He told my boss that he would keep calling until I answered. It was an Indian dialect, and he was persistent.
Gentleman called 4 times at my work. Asked to speak to my supervisor. Harrassed me with calling authorities. But, when I asked for Manager Mr. LaPaez is still checking and I am still waiting on amount of company I owe too as I don't mind paying if I owe.
Called my cell phone and said his name was John McClean or McQueen with AFCI. Spoke with a very heavy Indian accent and said it was urgent that I return his call immediately regarding a legal lawsuit that was filed against and a warrant for my arrest. First off, legit collectors must let you know they are attempting to collect a debt and they are not allowed to threaten you with arrest warrants. I tried to google AFCI and cannot find anything other than the electrical definition for arc fault circuits and the Association for Film Commissions website. It looks like they are trying to trick you into thinking they are AFNI, who is an actual accounts receivable and recovery agency. This guy is a scumbag scammer and probably has 10 other guys going by the name of "JOHN" sitting right next to him making phone calls right along with him!
Said his name was Officer Roy Wilson and that I took out a loan from Payday Cash Loans and wanted me to make a payment on my past due loan. I do not have a loan and asked what company he was with since I could barely understand his heavy Indian accent. He hung up on me. I called back twice more and they would not tell me who he was with. Scarey thing is he had my SS number. I reported this with all appropriate bureaus! SCAM!!
I am sure this was a scam number because this person tried to call me at my video phone number at work. Because I am deaf, I had video recording message on, which this person never bothered to leave. This is the second time it happened.
