Phony call, most likely a scam of some sort. Left voicemail. Guy claiming to be from auditing dept. of IRS. Had thick, difficult to understand accent. Addressed occupant of household by correct name.
Just had the same call. When I asked for his IRS I.D. Number he ignored me and kept repeating himself. He wouldn't answer my questions but kept repeating himself. I told him I would call the police if he called me again and I hung up
got a call from same number called 2x's saying from IRA, raspy voice, couldn't understand person, I called back got voice mail saying he was .......from IRS. got static call every time I tried to talk to the individual. I called my accountant he said IRS never calls anyone, they send letters.

•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
Got a call from some scumbag claiming he was from the IRS and they had a lawsuit against me for tax mis- information on my 1040 return. I use a CPA for my tax business and I know that the IRS does not make personal phone calls. I have had this same call before, only from a different person and number. Wanted me to call a certain lawyer`s number .Had I done that I probably would have wound up with a lot of phone bills to pay. When I called him a scammer and a scumbag he hung up on me.
