Complete scam. The guy was impersonating a DEA agent (a federal offense) and demanded I send a "fine" to the Dominican Republic (!) or be arrested for some phony internet drug trafficking charge. I told him I'd get the money together and to call me back tomorrow, which he seemed pretty eager to do. I then blocked the number. Google "DEA phone scam" and learn all about how these scumbags operate. The DEA has even posted a press release about this, warning people not to fall for it.
Cross reference this with 518-557-6051. This is the same person or they are working together. I spoke with Albany Sheriff's Department and they told me this is a common scam and the perps use VOIP so they could be calling from anywhere in the country. Do NOT fall for this scam, folks!
I received the same call today, a Jamaican accent guy named " Anthony Williams", impersonating a DEA agent, I just laughed, and stated my husband is the asst. DA in our area, and I will give him this info, plus let the local police be aware. What a bunch of scumbags!! Just block the # and laugh, that is what I did...
