It is indeed a collector calling for Credit One. Absolutely unprofessional. As someone pointed out, they have tons of phone numbers. I have over 15 of them blocked on my phone. They also operate outside the US so they do not have to abide by our laws in regards to bill collectors.
I paid every bill on time for over a year, but then was laid off: the day after my first missed payment due date went by, they were calling repeatedly. I explained that I was on unemployment since I was laid off, and wanted to try and work a reduced payment plan, but they just kept asking for my bank account # without wanting to work anything out. Since then they call many times every day.

I don't have a clue who told you that, but its a bunch of bs. They do have to abide by us laws, both state and federal..

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.

Some Tips:
*Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.
