Got a call from 212-888-3456 from a man with a heavy accent, said they were the Federal Grant & Treasury Dept calling to offer me $9200 grant that I would never have to pay back. Said it was money from the government. Confirmed my name, marital status and employment status. Said I would have to call his accounting manager at 206-451-5835 and give him my grant approval ID # (which he provided) to receive the money. I called back both numbers, neither number worked. Scamers!! Hope I didn't stay on the phone long enough for them to cyber-attack me from my cell phone.
Call from woman with a very strong accent, wanted to verify who I was, and insisted they were not a scam caller. I said you're calling me from Seattle, but you're telling me you're calling from Washington DC. I asked them to take my number out of their system and hung up, after keeping them going for 3 min & 19 sec ;-)
Same thing that I just got. Man with a very strong accent said he was calling from Health & Human Services in Washington, DC. I told him he was calling from Washington State and that I wasn't an idiot and hung up on him.
