Called my cell this evening (just before 9 PM!), I did not answer, they left no message.
I get a few calls each week from scammers - this may be another one.
On a couple other reporting websites, they say a woman was asking for money for breast cancer, but not saying which organization she represented. And this number does not Google back to a charity (or anybody).
Never give personal information, or money, to strangers on the phone.
Blocking this number on my cell phone.
Go to www.endrobocalls.org and sign the petition. It is by the Consumer Reports Magazine folks, and they are pressuring the Feds and phone companies to stop this nonsense. Spread the word !
She also call me but asked for a man's name when I said I wasn't him she said well you can help and tried to scam me about funding breast cancer research when I said no she hung up.
Hi Mary. Unfortunately many if not most of the robo-calls as well as spam/scam calls originate from OUTSIDE the U.S. Thus the Feds can do NOTHING about those types of calls. Many of these scam companies are located in China, India, Philippines, Nigeria, Russia, Romania, Etc. The thing is, they can SPOOF a phone number, and make it look like the call is originating from a local U.S. phone number when in reality it's actually coming from a foreign country. So to be clear, the end robocalls petition as well as the "do not call list" law will have absolutely no effect whatsoever on the calls that originate from outside the U.S. but use "spoofed" U.S. phone numbers to appear to be local.
This petition has more to do with bill collectors using robocalling to harass people than spam calls. Sign the petition, your congressman needs to know that we're on to them and will hold the responsible.
