Got the call twice today. First time they hung up.Second time they explained the grant (scam). I had two options:Western Union or my Mastercard. Either way, I would have lost. I already knew about this scam so played along until they wanted to know how I wish to receive my money. With that I laughed and said goodbye and hung up. Also blocked future calls from this number. Amazing....
Repeated calls from this number about federal grant available. I've told them numerous times that I'm not interested and to remove my name from their calling list. I still get the calls. 6 today from 9-12:30.. Who can I contact to stop these calls?
There's no way to stop the calls from being initiated. Calls are part of a wide-ranging scam that has been going around for years. There is not grant/loan. Calls originate in India and Pakistan. Callers ignore all US laws. Invest in a call blocker and DO NOT pick up on call numbers you do not recognize. You might want to block the 206 area code.
Anyone hit by these scams should consider blocking the following area codes:
206 253 360 425 509 564 also area code 202. The stupid scammers don't understand the difference between Washington State and Washington DC. They think that the people they call will think that the Washington State area code calls come from Washington DC.
Got a call from 206-693-4360 at 2:34pm today about being selected for a $9000 grant (claiming to be calling from a government office). Scam artists!!! This is after blocking the numbers about the same thing from two other such calls (704-558-3339 and 704-558-3335). People BE AWARE...they will claim that you can pick up money at Western Union and that Western Union will only pay out $4000 so they want you to speak to a supervisor so you can register with them to provide your details to get the additional $5000. (I basically played along to see where the SCAM was going to lead, then told them - not interested.)
