Some caller said I was selected by the U.S. government to receive $7000.00 and all I had to do was to call his supervisor at 206/792-9719 and he would make the arrangements. Yeah right!

Some caller said I was selected by the U.S. government to receive $7000.00 and all I had to do was to call his supervisor at 206/792-9719 and he would make the arrangements. I opted for a grant, rather than give banking info out. I felt scam, but called the number anyway, No answer or machine. This was the number that showed when they called. 203 030-303, 9 numbers, not 10.

An unknown caller call me yesterday and told me to call this number 206 7929 719 in order for me to receive $7000 dollars in grant money and he gave me an account manager # KS5286. I felt all this was fake because why would the government call you and say that they giving you this money and not being able to give you better proof then this. His name was Eric Miller and he said that I was picked along with 20 other people for this grant, he asked me to confirm my name and my address and my phone number but I felt like he called me so he had my phone number my name and you should have had my address. And I gave him the confirmation, I didn't give him anything else though but he told me to call that number but before I did I wanted to  looked it up first on 800notes.com. Now I feel so stupid that I almost fell for the scam they should be put in jail for this! He told me that I could either give them my checking account number or I can pick the money up at the Western Union or moneygram but I had to call that number first before I can receive any money.

It is a scam.
The government does not offer grants to individuals for personal use.
It is a scam ran by off shore con artists to trick you into sending unrecoverable money to them.
They will say you need to get prepaid money cards, like Green Dot and load them with you own money or to wire transfer funds via companies like Western Union. Once you give the details from the card to the scammer, they clean out the card. Once you wire transfer money, you can not recover it.
You loose your money, you get nothing.

The only legitimate avenue for government grants is through www.grants.gov which is the official US government web site for grants.
From their FAQ concerning fraud:
http://www.grants.gov/web/grants/support/general-support/grant-fraud.html

Please note the following:

No government grant-making agency will make phone calls; send email or letters to solicit money or personal banking information from a potential grant recipient.
There are no processing fees for federal grants.
Federal grants are not issued for personal use, but are intended for institutions and non-profits to carry out projects with a public purpose.
Know who you're dealing with on the web.  Scam artists will often post a website with a name similar to a legitimate site.
If you have provided personal banking information to anyone claiming to be associated with a Federal grant agency, call your bank immediately to prevent unauthorized access to your account.

If you receive a call, mail, email, FAX, or any other form of communication soliciting you for a grant, STOP.
It is a scam.
