Called for my uncle saying they were Financial Crimes Investigation Dept. Heavily accented "John Peterson" (hah!). This is the 2nd call. My uncle called him back before and they threatened him with arrest for an unpaid debt that he does not have!

These people have been doing this for a very long time. The phone calls started back up again today. Threatening my husband. The first time these calls came in several months ago, they were scaring him and thinking he was really in trouble for something and almost scammed us out of money. However, the more I listened to the conversations something didn't add up, so I looked for information on the web and found out that this is what these people do. They scare people out of their money!
Just like NPF stated, they have very strong accents from another country and can barely understand them. They are relentless!
Rec'd two calls at my place of employment stating it was "Officer Shaun Phillips" with a very difficult to understand accent. Advised me I was the being contacted as the result of a very serious law suit against me and that I needed to contact them immediately. What concerns me is that they have my work number and well as the last 4 digits of my SS #. This same thing happened to me last year. How can this be prevented. I did call the number back and advised that I knew this was a scam, and that I had contacted the FCC, Attorney General's office in my state, etc. After I did the same thing last year, the calls did stop. They do try to scare you into thinking you are truly being sued by someone. Can't something be done?
