Mom got this call, I almost choked.
This wasn't even how the IRS works,
Scammers are pretty creative these days.
Sorry to the people who falls into these traps. My opinion is to look up the number if something sketchy like this happens.
I received a call from (206)817-5849 and was told that there was a lawsuit against me and that the IRS was going to put me up on charges and Sue me in court..... This is not the way the IRS works!!! Do not trust or believe anything like this. The number was from Seattle. Washington. Not a head quarter of the IRS.
Calls originate in India and Pakistan. The spoof local numbers. They spoof Washington State and Washington DC area codes, not knowing the difference. Ignore and block.
Got the same call this morning @ 7:11am. They didn't say my name and said the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me. Just a scam. This is not how the IRS operates. They called from 206-817-5849.
