Spoke to a call center that was inquiring about tax invasion warrant for my arrest. India speaking person said the CPSC mailed me two documents to my home address. SCAM never received anything... Phone rings several times then goes blank then a person picks up ask for my name. Be cautious.... Came up with a name George Williams and a badge number a lot of noise in the background. India speaking person with a name like
my message on answering machine.. said, there's a warrant issued under your name, so before we move forward with a lawsuit and a legal allegation I should call them. It was a robot generated voice
Most likely an Indian IRS or debt scam. They tend to use area code 206.
First. No law enforcement agency in North America calls you up and says there's a warrant out on you. Warrants are only issued by local judges; they are only used in criminal cases and only issued on good application by duly constituted law enforcement officers. They are ONLY served in hand and only serrved by duly consituited law enforcement officers. Warrants are NOT served by phone or e-mail.
Second. Ignore and block these calls. If you were the subject of a pending civil lawsuit, you'd have received a letter from the attorney for the other party. You'd have a paper trail.
Then, if a case was filed, you'd have received a summons delivered to you by someone licensed to serve process in your locality. You would NOT have first heard about any civil law case from some scammery-scummery debt collector who cold calls you and starts demanding money.
You can check this out yourself by simply going down to the local main civil court and checking the defendants civil list. The court clerks are usually glad to help and are familiar with these kinds of scams.
5/24/2016 Call left on answermachine saying there was a suit against us and to call 206 823 3082... I called the number, an Indian guy answered said he was an IRS agent...gave me his ID number...wanted my SS number..I refused..he said he would send me to jail ..I hung up on him .
This number called us many times claiming to be IRS. My boyfriend, who works for law enforcement, called them back to tell them to quit calling his father, who is elderly. The foreign man on the other end said, "oh, you law enforcement?, You a mother f****!! Have a nice f**** day!" And hung up.
