This number called me today. I have filed a complaint with the national registry. They're calling themselves "Corporation for Character". They're seeking "donations" for Police & Sheriff's.
You can not call the number back. I just got another call and as soon as you ask if they are a not for profit organization, they hang up on you, this is the second time it has happened. SCAM ALERT!!!
This is not legit....it is a scam. I recommend you do not respond to whoever is calling from this number. This is just an opinion. They asked for "the woman of the house". When I asked what the call was regarding, he got confused. I asked again what he wanted....he got more confused and hung up. If they were fundraising, what would it matter if they talked to a woman or man?
THIS GUY IS A SCAM. LOOK HIM UP ON THE STATE OF WASHINGTON'S CHARITY PAGE. THEY KEEP A HUGE AMOUNT OF THE DONATIONS FOR THEMSELVES, AND GIVE MERE PENNIES. BEWARE! THEY (YOU) OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.
I just got a call from 206-866-1925. The gentleman asked for my husband, would not tell me why he was calling and while I was mid-sentence asking who he was he said "ok, well never mind, we'll try again" and hung up on me. Very suspicious. Highly doubt this is a fund raising service...if it were, he'd be happy to talk to me too.
To all: NEVER do fund raising donations over the phone!!!! NEVER give payment information over the phone! If this is a legitimate organization, they will provide you with appropriate information on where to go to help and NOT ask for money over the phone.
