The caller said I was chosen to receive a federal grant of $8,400, that I could use in anyway I would like. He said I was to go and buy a Green Dot Money pack for $250.00 and that it could be purchased at wallgreens. I google the number and here im reading all same offers. wonder how we can reported this scam.
I was also called this morning by an unknown caller claiming to be from United States Treasury Grant Department.
She stated that I had been selected to receive a grant of $8,400 as a one time in a life time. That I was one of 15,000 selected to receive this grant and in order to receive the funds I had 2 options; either provide a checking account number or provide a debit card to transfer the funds to. By the way she identified herself as Ary. After providing her the details she then gave me a confirmation# and phone # 206-973-7328 to call to have the money transferred into my account and that it would take 15-20 minutes for the funds to be available. Once called, I spoke with Florence Perry and she assured that she'd be on the phone while the funds are being wired but first I needed to go to CVS Pharmacy to purchase a Green Dot Money pack that costs $4.95 and add $250 to it. That's when I decided to look into this further and found this site with everyone's comments and thought I'd share my experience as well. I did follow up with Florence to let her know there was a site with comments, about this being a scam and her response to me was "There are a lot of scams out there", this is not a scam. I'm calling from US Treasury Grant Department I will be on the phone with you until you receive your funds. She continued to try and convince me that this was not a scam. I am so glad right now, that I opened my eyes and realized that this was to good to be true. If you did not apply for a grant then it's not real!
I received a call from this number (206) 973-7328 with a lady that could barely speak English saying that I was granted $8,000 in grant form to further my education. I knew it was a scam right off the bat and I asked her what kind of money they wanted because it didn't sound right. She said they would require $250 by credit card or bank information or western union, money gram ect... I told her if this was a legit company then why can't you deduct the fee out of what your sending me?? Of course there was something else she had to come up with. So she said well mam we can not touch the monies granted to you and I said why not if you are the United States Treasury Grant Department then your the ones giving me this money why can't you? she couldn't answer that.... IT IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE FOUND AND STOPPED!!!!!!!!!!!! IMMEDIATELY!
