my wife has been getting calls from this number for a couple of weeks both on our house phone and her cell. they are using her maiden name. I tried to call these sob's back today 3 different times spoke to 3 different people and they all refused to give me their company name and hung up on me. they claimed to be a locating service. If anyone knows their name and location please post it so I can find these crooks.
I've called them back a many many times. They called me back from 2072210843 so I blocked that number. Then they called be from 5126462261 then 3148843234 then 3148843223 . Same person each time.
Last thing, statutes of limitations for check fraud in Missouri is one year for misdemeanor. Three years for a felony. I was told by them that I wore this check in 2002. That's 12 years ago, so even if I did and I didn't! It's too late to be charged on that. So check your state laws. Good luck.
I received the same message. Told them for clarity reasons this conversation was begin recorded. She said "fine go ahead". I told them I was turning over the tape to the FCC, the FBI and the local police fraud division. Also told them if they continue to call, I would start legal action with a law sute of my own. It will be so expensive you will have to sell one of your kidneys to pay for it. Before I could get another word in, she started swearing at me. I then kept my cool and told her to get a real job and stop wasting my time. I also blocked their number. That was 3 days ago. 7/15/2014
I have to. I've even reported them to my local police department. Its all a scam. They get your number from collection accounts such as a payday loan/cash advance places.
These people are a bottom feeder collection agency that resort to "scare" tactics with threatening legal action. First, if they were a reputable agency, they would not leave personal information in voicemail. Second, if they were reputable, you would be able to request a debt validation letter which is a requirement under the FDCPA and the agency, if upstanding, will provide you one by mailing, via U.S. Postal Service, not e-mail.
Read up on the FDCPA requirements and arm yourself with knowledge. They are hoping by calling with this type of scare tactic of threatened legal action they will get someone who is clueless and will be scared enough to provide them with their bank information. You are under NO obligation to give them your information, i.e. bank, confirming SS# etc. They are, however, required to provide you with written notification of the debt, the original creditor etc.
