Caller had strong Indian type accent, said that he was calling about my micro-soft computer that has a virus. I asked him which computer? I have 8 computers, he said that the computer was sending him a message that it had a virus. I asked him to give me some more information so I could tell which computer it was (I have received several calls before from these guys, and have asked to be taken off their call list, so I played along). I asked him what message my infected computer was giving him. He said it says your name and phone number. I said "you do have my phone number what is my name", he gave the correct last name. Then I asked what my first name was, he gave the name of my son that died 6 years ago. I said "what kind of sick joke is this?" and "please never call here again". Today 3 days after that call the same person called again. I really raged and told him to take me off his list. These calls mostly come from an unavailable number, so I am not able to report the caller. This time the caller ID said that this is a cell phone. I work as a crisis counselor on the National suicide crisis line, and if I need to be contacted to come into work the call comes in as an unavailable number, so I do pick up those calls. I fear that this is a predator that is calling older people (I just happen to be a 70 year old that has worked in computer industries for over 20 years) who may have a computer and getting information from them that will steal their identity, banking information, and other information that they will use to for no good.
keep getting pop-ups on my comp--with a phone number--not sure if this # or not--don't remember--they want to get access to your computer--DON'T GIVE IT--I check my virus scan several times daily--have no threats or anything else--you can shut down--it says you can't in the pop up.
Caller called claiming to be from tech support. She had a very heavy maybe philippino accent. She said my computer was sending her viruses and wanted me to get on my computer. I kind of wanted to play along a little while to see what she wanted me to do but I just hung up.
