Call came about 3:10pm with no message left on my answering machine. Decided to do a lookup to try and find out who the call was from. Glad I got this info. Thanks
I received a call from 207-421-9459 and I recognized the area code 207 from past calls and it covers Maine and part of Quebec. Every call I have received from their has been a scam artist trying to extract banking, credit card or other personal information. I am on the National Do Not Call registry, so I pretty much already knew that this was a scam artist call.
Today's call was no different and there was an automated female voice that said they were calling to renew my automobile warranty. They said to press "1" to be connected to an operator to be quoted on a warranty renewal rate or press "2" to discontinue further notices.
I pressed option "1" and right away a female came on the line and asked me for my vehicles VIN and mileage. I knew this was leading up to more personal information, so I asked what their web address was so that I could verify who they were before disclosing anything. She immeditaely disconected me which confirmed my suspicion.
The last call I received from this area was 207-486-4595. I think next time I'll play along and just make up some fun numbers to screw with them. Maybe the FBI has some bogus credit card numbers that we can use to track and catch these crooks?
