I am getting phone calls from 207-429-0743 and 207-238-7816 asking for some person who dont even live here, nor do I know. I waited to listen to the messege and it says to hang up if you are not this person who they are asking for. and I did. then it rang another few days afterwards, this time I didnt hang up but listen and at the end it says if you are not this person and this person does not live here then push # to be removed, done that too, and they still keep calling asking for the same name.
A caller id number that starts with 44 (including 44207...) is actually from the UK. Specifically London (England's country code is +44, and London is 207 (and 208...). So, a number that shows up as "44207..." is actually someone calling from Central London, England.
The call you received was NOT from Maine (which is *area code* 207)
And yes, for at least the past few years, calls from London to landlines & cell phones here in the US seem to show caller id.
