"Heather" really gets around for being a lumpy-assed slob who sits on the sofa calling people to con them out of their credit card #'s, doesn't she? After realizing that pressing 2 to remove my number does nothing, I have started pressing 1 to speak to a "live", actually rather brain-dead representative to tell them to remove my #. One time I let the phone ring for 1 1/2 minutes before some trogladyte of a woman answered the phone very angrily. I reminded her that she was the one who called me and if neither of us were happy about it, perhaps she should stop. She didn't like my tone and slammed down the phone. Sometimes the call is from 1-850-475-5122, an inactive # in Pensacola, Fla. Other times it is scrambled. The FCC won't do anything b/c I am not a psychic and cannot provide any more info than I have already. When will the FCC, FTC, or FBI do something about this? "Heather" is obviously a national problem.
I also received two calls today (first one was a voicemail message) about lowering the interest rate on my credit card (was also Heather). The message made it sound very urgent, and that this offer would expire shortly. The number was 011-44-207-450-5282 (which I've narrowed down to London in the UK).
A few hours later the phone rang again, same message from Heather and so I too played along, pressed '1' to lower my rates; answered by a man who asked if I had chosen to lower my rates, told him yes, then asked which card he was calling about. Said it didn't matter, any card I was paying more than 10% could be lowered. I then asked how they got my phone number and he hung up. Yep, a scam for sure.
I'm contacting my state's Attorney General's office as well as Consumer Affairs (will give them the phone number). Imagine someone not a saavy or suspicious as we are, giving these [***] their credit card numbers. What a shame. Why can't people be honest? Don't they know they'll be going to hell?
i got the same call but it came from what appeared to be a u.k. number! the caller ID said "11442088462163." my caller ID tends to chop out the leading zero when i get calls from actual friends in the u.k., so it could be 011-44-208-8462163 which would look like a u.k. number. don't even connect with these fools!
Wow, I had the privilege of being offered the same by Heather--except she was calling from 561-793-8708. Says press 2 to be removed from their call list--and then 2 days later, why, it's Heather again, calling again from 239-263-5860. Reported both to DNC registry as well.
