Refusing to give company information is the major red flag of a scam.
Give him NO information (and don't bother picking up the phone if he calls). It sounds like he is phishing for information to try to extort money from you. Phone calls are not considered official notification of anything.
Received a call wanted me to identify myself and verify if the numbers they said were my social. I asked who he was and he said his name was Doug but refused to tell me what company or what it was in regard to unless I identified myself which I refused to do. He said if I'm the person they are trying to contact at some point I will have to talk to them one way or another. Then he asked me to verify who I was and my address. I told him you called this number what is this in regard to. When he refused to provide the information I hung up.

Just got a call from this number on my work line. Asked me to confirm my name. Asked her what this was regarding. Said she couldn't tell me until I confirmed my identity and asked me to provide the last four digits of my social security number. I wouldn't, so she asked to confirm what she had and repeated the last four of my number. When I confirmed them, she stated that she was from Alpha Recovery and was attempting to collect a debt from "Galaxy". I told her I was disputing anything she said, and not to call me on my work number. She said I owed $xxx. I told her I was disputing that and she asked me if I had proof. I told her I wasn't going to continue the conversation on my work line and that I would put my dispute in writing, but in the middle of that sentence, she said "good luck" and hung up on me!
