This number showed up on my caller id this morning.. When I called it back its a recording that starts out "Hi this is Julie from our rewards redemption department.. You recently visited one of our affiliated websites.. We have a $100 reward voucher for you...." ...its Spam
What good is Do Not Call? It prevents Domino's Pizza from calling you. And Papa John's. And Pizza Hut. And Geico Insurance. And Progressive. And every car dealer within a 50 mile radius. And Wal-Mart and Target and every other big box retailer you've ever heard of (as well as those you haven't). In short, Do Not Call insures that every major business in the United States – who'd all absolutely love to take advantage of cheap internet-phone telemarketing – hasn't phoned you with advertising ever.
If you expect criminals to obey Do Not Call you're dreaming.
I'm not even on the Do Not Call list...why waste the time to register...and I've never received a call from any of the retailers you mention, nor any other legitimate retailer. The DNC only protects you from legitimate companies, not criminals like the ones from this number. They couldn't care less about our laws and they know that we have no way of being protected from them. Our government will not do anything to stop them, and the mega-conglomerate telecommunications companies won't do anything either. Gee, do ya thing they might be making money, hand-over-fist, from these scamming, criminal thieves?? But why should they worry, cause they're still making billions off of us and aren't required to spend one penny of it to produce the technology to stop this insanity, nor will they ever with our current group of worthless politicians in Washington.
Okay, enough political BS (but Sir Bedevere really got me fired up up about legitimate retailers...BTW, Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of my, if not THE most favorite movie, of all time...just saying). You need to get a call blocking device if you ever hope to ever have peace and quiet again. This particular call came through my cell phone, so my cell phone will now block it, but the vast majority of calls from these lying, scamming thieves come across my landline at home. In a year and a half, I've blocked over 500 numbers from ever bothering me again. If you want peace and quiet, and to be safe from these scamming thieves, do yourself a favor and spend the $40 to $100 a call blocker will cost you. You can find them on Amazon and all are moderately priced. Some phone systems have the technology built-in to them, but if you don't want to replace your entire phone system, a call blocker device is the answer.
Sorry for the long response! Oh well, now it's time for scotch...CHEERS, and Happy New Year!!
