Called twice today but didn't say anything when I answered. Called the number back and automated answer claimed was American Veterans Foundation. According to Charity Navigator (http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=14202) they are pretty poorly rated charity. Also note they are supposedly in Maryland but area code 208 is Idaho.
Caller ID shows FAV. 208-906-2691 shows the same FAV caller ID and appears to be the same scam. When my wife answered, she did not get any answer and as she hung up someone finally tried to answer. I answered the call this morning and waited for several seconds and the person ask "Is the lady of the house at home?". I said "Not she is not" and hung up. I immediately put both numbers in my blocked calls list.
Used the veterans as a means to bilk me out of money. I will gladly help veterans when it is a legitimate cause. Shame on these thieves. God knows who you are.
Called me at 10:00 asking for donations to homeless veterans, the voice sounded rerecorded but wasn't sure. They asked for my credit card or debit card right then and there and i said I had no money so they got my address which i probably shouldn't have gave out and they said they would send out a letter.
