I pressed 1 during a recorded sales pitch for a senior alert offer "sponsored by the American Heart Association."
The offer amounts to a free push button necklace for emergency calls, and $35 per month for service. Told him I heard enough, don't want it, and take me off the calling list. He politely said he would.
Then I asked why I was on the list when I was registered with DoNotCall and certainly had no prior relationship with his company. He said I probably checked a "send more info" box on a sweep stake entry or intenet signup registration. The "light" dawned on me that this unprovable statement is a great reminder to NOT check that little check box.
Now let's see how legit these people are. Will they actually remove my number? Time will tell.
