Alias, "Cynthia Milner" this time. Scam failure, contacted me through Care.com, I trusted her with some of my info, said they were moving to my city and needed my work, said she was hard of hearing so I couldn't call her, they sent a fraudulent check, taking to bank and police with her email and phone #, and seeing what they might be able to do--hopefully track this person down to stop them from scamming someone else. I am 22, trying to get a second job to pay for my grandparent's medical bills, my college tuition, and apartment. I had to turn down three lesser paying REAL job interviews for this to turn out to be a scam. Note to scammers: If you use the time you're putting into (failing at) scamming for fulfilling things instead like learning/doing something for someone else, you WILL be able to find yourself loving people and have them love you back, finding fulfillment, making a difference in the world, cherishing experiences and memories from the people around you, you will literally like what you do for a living and be able to sleep better at night, you won't seem so closed off like you're holding secrets from everyone, a huge weight will be lifted off of you, the same one that you put on more and more people the longer you scam. Scamming effects real people with a real family, a real past, real memories, real hurts, real struggles, and for all you know, you could be messing with the medical researcher who is trying to get through college to cure his grandparent's cancer, maybe your future cancer, your loved one's cancers (I work in a medic research lab). I'll get a second job, don't worry, because I don't sit in a chair and try to cheat people into giving me money. I fight against the current every day of my life, love my life, love what I do, love the people I try my best to help, and sometimes they happen to pay me very generously for it without my asking. You can't take that away from me even if you could take my money because I don't work for money. What are you working for? I know you see the pain around you too. Pain doesn't heal itself. I do... and you could too. I have faith in you if no one else does. You don't have to scam or cheat to survive, you can live meaningfully instead.
The check and the envelope it came in should be sent to the postal inspectors. They have the ability to track mail. Police don't and probably won't spend much time on it.
