This number has called once but then multiple times with same scary seniors fall, blah, blah. They have called after 9:30 pm and before 9:00am on weekends. Not happy!
I get these calls at least daily, sometimes 2 & 3 times, always the same thing, If you are a senior, blah blah blah, well I'm not a senior so stop calling me. lol
I was getting the same call (begins "are you a senior?" and then I just hang up) from the same couple of numbers last week.. I started blocking them with the blacklist service on my phone, and since then I seem to be getting MORE of the same calls but from different numbers...
I wonder if they have a way to tell that they've been blocked and then they change up the number they call from.. It's irritating as hell, and basically harassment.. Yes, if I've elected to block your calls then I'm certainly going to be pleased that you've found a way around that and I'm going to be happy to give you my business because I respect how smart you are..
I have read all the messages above and I have the same problem with the 209-322-4078 and they call more then once a day and now have gotten a hold of my cell number, not a happy camper.... I see all the complaints but how come there is no one to help us with a solution on what to do to get them off of their mailing list.....this has to stop. When I answer there is no one there and then they hang up.....something should be done...?????
Obviously we all have the same problem. I phoned CRTA enforcement and spoke with the lady named Margot. She explained the situation quite well to me; in turn I told her I'll inform the public and hope to benefit others. These are the advice she gave:
- do not pick up the phone for a call that is not familiar to you, especially area codes of 707 and 412..
- if you happen to pick up the call, don't press the button the robot/caller instructs, because they may very well obtain your phone number this way. Many of the criminal callers actually don't know your phone number. They called by "spoofing off" dormant phones of different countries and eventually reaching Canada and USA. Also these robo callers can only call a group of 10 at a time. They have to move on to find the next victim if you continue to ignore them.
- never engage with telemarketers. They could be involved with criminal activities.
- if possible, do record the phone number and date the call was made to you, and complain to Do Not Call List Canada (on line or phone) even though it doesn't seem like they are helping. Margot told me they received thousands of calls a day, which CRTC collects for subsequent investigation. If the calls were from USA, then it would be handed over to SCC (counterpart of CRTC in Canada) for investigation. The process is complicated but apparently they have cracked some criminal cases. The last such case was April, 2013 as related in the CRTC website.

For the last while I have been getting 2 calls a day from this number. Usually I let my answering machine screen these calls for me, but it gets annoying to hear my phone ringing. I didn't want to use up all my call blocks and not everybody has a phone with that feature. What to do? I picked up the phone right away (to avoid getting dead air) when I knew that it was this number calling again.
I heard a short pitch from an automated female voice ( not much longer than a minute) talking about seniors falling blah blah blah. I was prompted to press one particular button on my hand set if I was interested in their "free" item (nope) and then prompted to press another button if I did not want to hear from them again (yup). An automated male voice then confirmed that I would not be contacted again. I had the same experience with 204-289-1756 - same automated pitch, and same option to opt out of any further calls.
Well, its been almost 3 glorious days since I opted out of these calls - no more contact! I'll post again if these numbers start bothering me again but so far it's been very peacful.
