They're fun to play with....just keep saying "Okay" or any other single word to everything they say and it drives them crazy! Sure I got called every name in the book, but he was much more frustrated than I was.
These people call frequently (20 times so far; numbers they have used are 888-210-2109, 929-251-8602, 631-402-9184, and 209-542-2721). They pretend to be from your company's technical support department (that doesn't work very well when they call your home) or try to claim your computer is somehow causing problems on the internet. They play on most people's lack of technical understanding to try to get them to install software on their computer that supposedly solves the "problem" it has, but it actually lets them take control of your computer to send out spam. Inevitably the caller has an Indian accent (the subcontinent, not native American) although they usually say their name is "Mick Johnson" or "John" or some other American-ish sounding name. It's a complete fraud and can be very dangerous.
I too received a call from the so called Tech Support team from Microsoft that I had problems with my computer and they would fix it for a fee of 243.99. Like a dummy, I fell for it. My Bad -- I have cancelled my credit card.
They said that I would have Tech Support for 2 years & 6mos. They even emailed me confirmation.
And yes this guy had an India accent and he was very hard to understand.
