left a message today claiming they were with Dept of Legal affairs, guy who left message was either of indian, pakistani or arabic nationality. The irony here is that A: I don't pay taxes; file income tax forms because I don't work; everything is in my HUSBAND'S name; B: I check my credit info on that free credit report site called CreditKarma.com; and C: I don't own any credit cards other than the card that's through my husband's bank account; and the credit/debit card I got through Kroger's that only has money on it when I add money to the card! These people pray on people's fears of the law and those who are ignorant of the law too. If the IRS were to contact an individual they would do so by mail and in person informing you that your being audited. Same goes for the Department of Legal Affairs; they don't call and make threats the second you answer the phone; and I'm also fairly certain that anyone who works for the Dept. of Legal Affairs, the IRS or any said department would speak proper english (no matter what nationality they may be I might add), they would introduce themselves properly, give you their ID; even allow you to confirm that they are indeed who they say they are too. I NEVER give my social security card information, or any payment information over the phone to someone who claims I owe them money when the caller ID info is unavailable, unknown or even private. I ask for them to send my proof of the debit by mail and then I go from there.
The people/s calling us got our information by an online site of some sort. I say this because the msg I received was for one of my online aliases. the phone number may have been fake, as I got two similar calls with the same voices from different phone numbers.
