I got the same call about my sister, they said they were calling from legal affairs. Stupid sounding Indian guy name Jacob Bryan... [***]. Habib, [***] off!
This guy gives me a belly ache, says that legal action has been taken against my family that I have to call back immediately. Indian Accent, dept. of legal affairs, cheesy answering service, I told him to F**k off and to call my attorney. Hummmm no call yet no surprise. TOTAL SCAMMER!
Got the same call this evening. Heavy accent caller said his name was John Lee and was from the Treasury Department and that there was appending legal action against me. He told me that I need to call 209-565-6426 within the next 2 hours or I would be arrested. So I told him that I was going to verify his phone number with the Attorney Generals Office. He once again stated that if I did not call the number within 2 hours someone would be showing up to arrest me. I once again told him that I was going to verify the number with the Attorney Generals Office. He then started screaming repeatedly, "are you threatening me? are you threatening me? I assured him that I was not threatening him, and reminded him that he called my house and I was simply going to verify the validity of his number before I called. He then yelled "someone will be at your house within 2 hours to arrest you!". I said ok and hung up. I have called the Boise Police Department and have informed them of this scam.
I just got a call from Jacob Bryan, an Indian guy, and he said the US Treasury would be taking action against me and I needed to call 209-565-6426 immediately.
Same thing as everyone else above; had a message on my home answering machine for my wife claiming she needed to call because of some legal action being taken against her. I called the number from my cell phone and messed with him for a bit telling him my name was Hugh Jass and tried not to laugh as he repeated it back to me. Got a few laughs and then he finally threw in the towel and said he would call me tomorrow.
