Trying to scam me into wiring funds from a bad check written to me for $2400.00 and then wire them via Moneygram from those funds which were no good to begin with to cover so-called shipping costs from Chicago to New York and rent a room in my house, leaving me to owe bank for any funds withdrawn from my account from that check and then lose more of my own money in the process for bank fees etc.

Were you working for them or were you renting the room out? He contacted me saying he wanted me to "post things for him and he'd pay me handsomely". I'm staying away from it now but I was curious if he was trying to con me
It's a total scam. Whoever this scumbag is he/she advertises in Craig's list as looking for rooom to rent. They use various names, conning you to think they are some foreign student or from out of town, and they are coming to this area to help orphna children with heart problems. That's the ploy, they try to pull the wool pover your eyes and pull on your heart strings that their purpose is to do. It's a total lie, they setting you and me up top be scammed by first by texting or email once you are replying to the advertisement about looking for a room to rent. If they even send you a check which was supposed to be a Money order or Certified Check, for over 2K. It's a phony check and then they want you to deduct funds from this bogus check and wire them Money via Moneygram which realy is any legitimate funds of your own since the check sent to you is phony. Then in 3 days after depositing this check, it will bounce and any money you sent to them is lost and you are left holding the bag with egg yolk on your face. I caught it in the nick of time, called the police and of course after all was said and done they did nothing at all. So all I can do is alert people that these low-lifes are out their and Craig's List should be sanctioned in some manner for allowing this to happen at all and probably is happening right now to some unsuspecting honest person trying to maybe really rent a room to really put money in their pocket to offset any real financial problems they maybe facing. The ads will change, the phony names will change, the cell phone numbers will change, but won't change is these scammers trying again to some unsuspecting person, and the con game will go on as long as Craig's List and any local Law Enforcement fail to protect honest citizens like me and you.
I had the same experience with the rent issue. I put the check on hold but now I'm getting harassed by this guy (supposedly "Jessica Lawrence") a doctor and part-time teacher with Olney Friend's School who is coming to San Diego County to work with Orphan children with heart problems.
