Guy called my cell, asked for me by name. Said they were collecting for a charity for kids and police (some type of mentoring thing?). When I asked how he got my number the man said "we are robo-dialing prefixes and we are calling the bay area now".
Ok, two problems with this, the man called me by name so he obviously didn't robo-dial and although I do live in the bay area, my cellphone prefix is from another area so that also contradicts what he said.
I ask him how he knew my name if he is in fact robo-dialing and he said "we are a nonprofit so we get info from the Attorney General's office". So he contradict himself again. Needless to say I ended the conversation because it totally smelled like a scam.
I just got the number called, asking for my husband.
I asked what is that for, he obviously has a bad and impolite attitude and just asking for my husband without telling me anything.
I asked couple times and he seems so upset and raised his voice, saying that he called from public po, he said that's where he work.
Our information must got stolen by someone, but what is their point???
Just got a call from this caller. I have answered in the past and I get a different story every time. Don't believe these people. If they know your name then they did a reverse number look up on the .net, its not hard to find out a persons name. Heck they could of called you two months ago using another number and got your name the first time they called. Its Fishing!
Got a call from this number yesterday but I did not answer. I have a pay-as-you go phone with an untraceable number so I don't know if he knew my name. I never answer my phone if I don't recognize the number.
