Just got a call too. The line was dead at first and then a guy came on saying he was inquiring about a recent online survey that I had submitted. When I asked what survey that was the line went silent again, but I think he was still there. I just hung up. I did not take any online surveys and even if I did I sure would not have left my cell phone number.
Similar story here. They called me this afternoon. Did not respond at first when I picked up and said hi (usually the sign of an autodialer with nobody on the other until you pick up). Also said he was calling me due to an online survey I had completed (I have done one or two surveys but never give my phone number). He proceded right past my response that I didnt give my number to any survey and asked if I would answer a couple quick questions. I was then asked for my birthdate and if I had been in the military. He said great, I qualified after I gave the "answers". Then asked if I was interested in having a job while I continued to go to school. I told him he had the wrong guy as I have a full time job and havent gone to school in 20+ years and have no desire to. Call ended there.
Seems like either an attempt to glean personal info or a very poorly targeted attempt to sell a student loan or some work from home scam.
